5   1 to 5 and 5 to 1 Excerpts (I will choose 3 from Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,
      The Flintstones Theme, Here Comes the Bride, O Christmas Tree & Old MacDonald.)
H   Haydn "Surprise" theme from Symphony No. 94, mvt. 2 — Sing the first 4 bars + 1 note.
M   Mozart Eine kleine Nachtmusik, 1st movement, 1st theme
      Memorize the first 4 bars + 1 note. (Sing the top note of chords.)


Sing the following examples with harmonic minor solfège.
3   We Three Kings of Orient Are — first 2 phrases (We Three Kings melody for simple piano)
B   J.S. Bach "Little" Fugue in G minor, BWV 578 — the first 12 notes
C   The Coventry Carol — entire melody — Patterns


The Grieg excerpts require major solfège, harmonic minor solfège and a little chromatic solfège.
G   Grieg's "Peer Gynt" Suite No. 1 (2 points per theme—You may ignore grace notes and trills.)
      Morning Mood, Ase's Death, Anitra's Dance & In the Hall of the Mountain King
      (We will not practice the Grieg in class. I expect you to figure these out on your own.)
