B flat Instrument Transposing Tutorial
Written C sounds the key.
Written = Printed = Transposed
Sounding = Actual = Concert
In bands, the clarinet & bass clarinet, soprano & tenor sax and trumpet are usually in B flat.
As usual, the written note is above the sounding note.
For clarinets, soprano saxophones and trumpets; written to sound is a whole step down.
For bass clarinets and tenor saxophones, written to sound is a whole step plus an octave down.
